High cholesterol is one of the main risk factors for coronary heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. To avoid this, you need to pay attention to cholesterol restrictions that are mostly made up of food. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or often called bad cholesterol is one of the factors that can increase cholesterol levels. If there is too much LDL in the blood, cholesterol can accumulate in the inner walls of the arteries (blood vessels). If the cholesterol buildup becomes more dense and hardens, it can disrupt blood flow from the arteries to the heart and brain.

  • Foods high in saturated fat

  • Fat is needed by the body, but consuming excessive fatty foods can increase blood cholesterol. One of the restrictions on cholesterol is by limiting foods such as sausages, butter, fatty cheese cream, cakes, biscuits, sugar, foods containing coconut or palm oil, offal, fast food, packaged foods, egg yolks and others.
  • Meat

  • Another cholesterol taboo is meat. Meat generally contains a lot of saturated fat and cholesterol. Therefore, it is recommended to reduce meat intake in your diet. If you eat chicken, it is recommended to remove the skin. If not, chicken can turn into foods that are high in cholesterol.
  • Fried or any fried food

  • Fried food may be commonly consumed by many people. However, either fried foods or other fried foods can trigger high cholesterol. It starts from the process when the food is fried, which makes the water in the food evaporate. In addition, fat in oil is also absorbed by food, so the oil will turn into trans fat which can cause high cholesterol. However, that does not mean you should not fry food at all. It is recommended to use olive oil or sunflower seed oil for frying. In addition, limit consumption of fried foods only a few times a month.
  • Ice cream

  • In some studies say, one cup of ice cream has more fat than burgers, even several times more than consuming one donut. It is recommended to replace ice cream with fresh fruit for your dessert. Likewise with foods and drinks that contain milk, such as cheese and yogurt, you should replace it with low-fat dairy products.
  • Smoke

  • Smoking will reduce levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol. As a result, heart disease is shadowing you. In addition, smoking can also cause irritation of blood vessel walls so that cholesterol buildup or plaque formation in artery walls is easier.
Smoking also increases the risk of blood clots and causes hardening of the artery walls or atherosclerosis. Not only active smokers, HDL levels can also fall on passive smokers. When stopping smoking, HDL good cholesterol levels will immediately increase. Not surprisingly, smoking is a cholesterol restriction.
